WHAT IS KEEP UP?
Keep Up is an intensive volunteering program in Lisbon, Porto and Guimarães that lasts 4 hours a day, over 4 days.
Wework from Monday to Thursday. The first round is from 9AM to 1PM and the second from 2PM to 6PM, to renovate a house and rebuild the lives of those who live there. Each team only works on one house! The teams are made up of 5 volunteers, a coordinator and a technician, who guides the work. Despite being demanding volunteering, there is a very good environment at work, very relaxed and lively! If you want to come with us to change lives, here’s what you need to know:
1. For 4 days (Monday to Thursday) we will be working to rebuild the home of a needy family.
2. We work as a team from 9AM to 1PM or 2PM to 6PM.
3. Each team has a responsible coordinator.
4. A professional technician is always present at the work place who guides the work and teaches you everything you need to know.
5. Registration costs €10 (includes t-shirt, insurance, tools and protective equipment).
6. You have to take steel toe boots, clothes to get dirty and, very important, a spirit of service to the work place.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do registrations open for Keep Up?
Registration for Keep Up Fall Winter 2023 is open.
What it takes to be a volunteer?
To become a Just a Change volunteer, you just need to be 18 years old or older, available and willing to help! The rest is up to us 🙂
Are there any age restrictions for volunteering?
Yes. To become a Just a Change volunteer, you must be of legal age.
I've never worked on construction sites and I don't know anything about construction. Can I still participate?
Yes! Our volunteers are constantly accompanied and supervised by a coordinating volunteer and a construction technician, who are there to teach you everything you need!
I was on the waiting list. And now?
(Un)Fortunately, we have more applications than vacancies. Vacancies are occupied in order of registration and therefore it is natural that there are people on the waiting list. But don’t get discouraged yet! There’s always the chance someone drops out and you can join. Unfortunately, this can happen even in the days before the start of the volunteering activity and we have no way of notifying you in advance.
How much does a Keep Up cost and what does it include?
Keep Up costs €10, which includes insurance and a Just a Change t-shirt.
This value DOES NOT include transportation to the volunteering location or food.
Can I do just a few days of Keep Up?
No. There are a lot of people wanting to do the Just a Change volunteer programs. By occupying a vacancy, you are taking the place of someone else who could perhaps be at Keep Up every day and that would not be fair.
Does Keep Up include accommodation?
No, in this program volunteers work for 4 hours and return to their homes at the end of the shift.
